Tigers continue Euro push

Paul Merson shreiked Hull City could qualify for Europe as Marlon King scored a penalty in a 2-1 win for the Tigers against Middlesbrough yesterday.

City have made quite a remarkable start to life in the Premier League sitting pretty in sixth spot as we go into the hectic Christmas schedule.

They are just three points adrift of the ‘Big Four’ and steaming towards UEFA Cup football next season - but can Phil Brown’s team really sustain this fairytale story?

Spurs’ second Wembley coming

Following the completion of the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup, I fully expect reigning champions Tottenham Hotspur to go all the way and lift the crown once more.

Even before the draw for the eagerly anticipated semi-finals - which comprise of two legs - Spurs should be installed as favourites, despite current Champions League and Premiership champions Manchester United still in the hat.

Ince, for goodness sake send Robbie to Grimsby!

At the start of the season Blackburn manager Paul Ince shocked the
football world by giving Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler a chance to ply
has trade at the pinnacle of English football once again.

Fowler took up the opportunity, but has it really worked out? Maybe he’d be better off at Grimsby Town in League Two, who this week revealed they are interested in his services.

Leeds, Forest, Leicester… are Watford next?

Watford remain just two points of the relegation zone after a disappointing draw at Doncaster Rovers this weekend.

The club that has produced and honed excellent English talent like John Barnes and Ashley Young are in severe danger of dropping outside the English second tier for the first time in over a decade.

Current form suggests they could be sinking down the same route as the likes of Leicester City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest in recent years.

Cup minnows deserve TV break

One of the greatest days in the football calendar is FA Cup Third Round day, and the draw has been made.

Particularly for lower league, and non-league clubs still involved, the tension to see who you pull out of the hat can be unbearable.

One of the things that is a real draw for the lower sides left in the hat is the possibility of a game in front of the cameras - but how fair do the TV stations deal with that prospect?

After defeating Lincoln City 2-0 at home, Aldershot continued their unbeaten run at the Recreation Ground this season.

Only table-toppers Wycombe have also yet to lose at home - or away for that matter - but for the Shots who came up last season, this is some achievement.
